Product & Research Profile
Oxytocin is a cyclic nonapeptide composed of nine amino acids and characterised by a disulfide bridge between two cysteine residues, creating a compact six-residue ring with a short C-terminal tail.

Its defined cyclic structure is central to interaction with the oxytocin receptor (OXTR), a G-protein-coupled receptor predominantly associated with Gq/11-mediated signalling. Laboratory research commonly examines OXTR activation, phospholipase-C signalling, intracellular calcium mobilisation and downstream receptor-response mechanisms.

Oxytocin is structurally related to vasopressin-family peptides, making it particularly useful for comparative studies of neuropeptide receptor selectivity, ligand recognition, receptor cross-reactivity and structure–activity relationships.

Its well-characterised sequence and receptor pharmacology also make Oxytocin relevant to controlled research involving cyclic peptide chemistry, GPCR signalling, peptide–receptor interactions, analytical characterisation and comparative neuropeptide research.

Supplied as a lyophilised powder in sealed laboratory vials, Oxytocin is available in a 10mg quantity for research and analytical applications.
